Shakespeare Reflection
Throughout these past few weeks, we have been producing a shadow puppet play of Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth”. We were split into teams; those teams were mainly stage and lighting, art and puppets, and the directors. In those teams, you do your best to make the puppet show as best as possible in any way possible. My group was lighting and stage; although this was my group, I was often recording lines for my character’s voice. I was cast as Macbeth.
I connected to this project because I have done improve acting in middle school and enjoyed it. What I liked the most was the whole thing it was overall an amazing experience. My favorite part was my second live acting scene when Noah J. and I had our fight scene. Although this part was my favorite all of the play and setting up was absolutely amazing.
This project was most difficult when I had forgotten my lines in my first live acting scene, I had issues remembering my lines because I was told that I had to do this live acting part the day of the production. The most challenging part was participating with others who have similar issues with being headstrong. I had to persevere through the emptiness when I was alone on stage burning with stage fright when I forgot my lines.
I learned that I am a good actor and that I can memorize lines better when I combine actions as key points to ensue my next line. My lines came easier as I blocked them with my partner. I learned that I am not good at collaboration and could work on those skills for next year.
Now 400 years later Shakespeare’s writings are still being read because all of his works are still relevant. The issues that these plays are based upon are still around today and are not leaving for a long time. They are celebrated by the English speaking language because we can relate to the characters feelings.
